Orange County Great Park

Irvine, California

The Great Park Neighborhood in Irvine is known for its excellence in design and planning, with an emphasis on community and sustainability. TJW worked alongside with a master developer and the City of Irvine to prepare traffic signal, signing and striping, and traffic control plan designs for the arterial and collector streets associated with the Great Park Neighborhoods project.

TJW's involvement in the project has been to design approximately 50 traffic signals and roundabouts, miles of traffic control and signing and striping for the streets of Alton Parkway, Barranca Parkway, Ridge Valley, Great Park Boulevard, Irvine Boulevard, and Trabuco Road, to name a few. TJW also prepared rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) plans for crosswalks, connecting sidewalks to trails at mid-block locations and prepared bike path signing and striping. This ensures the safety of both pedestrians and bicyclists as they travel throughout the trails.

Beyond the residential homes, bike trails, and amenities, the project also included the IUSD's fifth high school, Portola High School, where TJW was an integral part to provide traffic signal design and signing and striping for its opening in the fall of 2016.

Design plans have been related to the Great Park Sports Complex, FivePoint Amphitheater, Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena, Broadcom/FivePoint Business Campus and all of the Great Park Neighborhoods. TJW is currently in its ninth year of design on the Great Park project.
